What looked like a promising season before Thanksgiving turned into another losing campaign for the Cleveland Browns. Much turnover can be expected in the offseason as the Browns look to build off the ground they gained in 2014. Here are five veterans who might not be with the team next year.

Of all the decisions the Browns will have to make this offseason, the quarterback position takes the cake in terms of importance. Cleveland could very well show Hoyer the door if they decide to go the Johnny Football route or if Kirk Cousins is acquired. It’s difficult to forecast right now, but Hoyer’s future in Cleveland is as murky as his inconsistent play.

The odds were against him after the Browns drafted Justin Gilbert with the No. 8 overall pick, but Skrine had a very good season and enters the free agent market as one of the top No. 2 corners in the NFL. His 18 passes defended was the fourth-highest total among all defensive players, and he also picked off four passes.

3. Jordan Cameron

Talk about a fall from glory. Cameron was one of the biggest surprises of 2013, nabbing 80 — yes, 80 — receptions for 917 yards and seven scores, but he managed only 24 catches in 10 games this season. Cameron was often more of a liability than a performer in the Browns’ passing game, and he will probably find himself wearing a non-orange helmet next season.

2. Miles Austin

Speaking of pass catchers on the decline, the chances of the Browns re-signing Austin are slim to none. While Austin was useful in 2014 — 47 receptions, 568 yards and a pair of touchdowns — he is nowhere near the player he was in 2009 and 2010 with the Cowboys. The Browns would be smart to let Austin walk and carry on with the youth movement at the wide receiver position.

Rubin is earning a little bit too much money for his worth, making him a prime candidate to be let go by the Browns this offseason. Look for a team that strikes out in the Ndamukong Suh sweepstakes to take a flyer on Rubin. He’s much more effective as an interior lineman in a 4-3 scheme than the nose tackle in the Browns’ 3-4 defense.
