The Detroit Lions exited the playoffs in heartbreaking and controversial fashion on Sunday. However, the season as a whole was a success for the Lions. They won 11 games for the first time since 1991, and made the playoffs for only the second time this century. Now it's time for Detroit to build on this season's progress. Here is a look at an early mock draft for the Lions.

Defensive tackle will be a need for the Lions if they lose Ndamukong Suh. Danny Shelton isn't Suh, but he would be a serviceable replacement. Shelton recorded nine sacks during his senior season at Washington. He is a big body at 6-foot-2, 340 pounds, and should be available when the Lions pick in the first round.

Round 2: Ereck Flowers, OT, Miami

The Lions should look to add another big body on the other side of the line in the second round. Ereck Flowers would be a good fit and would help fill out Detroit's offensive line. Flowers can play on either end of the line; even if he doesn't start from day one, he would provide some much-needed depth to a unit that was decimated with injuries this past year.

Round 3: Senquez Golson, CB, Ole Miss

You can never have enough cornerbacks when you are competing against Aaron Rodgers within the division. Mississippi's Senquez Golson should be on the Lions' radar. He is a little undersized, but he continually made plays in the SEC this year. Golson tied the school record with 10 interceptions during his past season.

Round 4: Antwan Goodley, WR, Baylor

The Lions have the luxury of not having a lot of glaring needs, which will allow them to take some chances in the draft. Antwan Goodley would be worth a shot for them in the fourth road; the Baylor wide receiver would fit nicely in the slot between Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate.

Round 5: Stephone Anthony, ILB, Clemson

Detroit will likely draft a linebacker at some point in the draft for depth purposes. Clemson's Stephone Anthony would be a good fit for the Lions' defense, as he is an aggressive linebacker who has some pass rushing skills. Anthony could also be used on special teams.

Round 6: Jamil Douglas, OG, Arizona State

The last two rounds of the draft are all about taking shots in the dark on prospects. Jamil Douglas' versatility makes him an interesting pick in the sixth round. He can play multiple positions on the offensive line, which would help the Lions' depth.

Round 7: Jermauria Rasco, DE, LSU

Jermauria Rasco had four sacks this season for LSU. He figures to be a situational pass rusher and special teams guy in the pros, which is fine for a seventh round pick. His overall athleticism makes him worth the selection in hopes that the right coaching can get even more out of him.
