Junior Galette Latest NFL Player To Put Himself In Ugly Situation

Junior Galette Arrest

New Orleans Saints outside linebacker Junior Galette is just the latest NFL player to be arrested on domestic violence charges. Police in Kenner, Ga. arrested and took Galette into custody shortly before 10 a.m. on a misdemeanor charge of simple battery involving domestic violence.

Galette’s connection with the 22-year-old woman is in question and still unclear. Police said the woman claimed to have previously been in a relationship with the Saints linebacker and even used to live with him. Additionally, though they no longer lived together, she still cooked, cleaned and did whatever he needed her to do. Contrarily, Galette claimed she was no more than a dancer who he took home on Sunday night.

According to reports, Galette is accused of pushing the woman twice to the ground when an argument broke out following his refusal to give the woman money for a cab. Police also arrested Terrance Banks, Galette’s former teammate at Temple University, who was also at the residence at the time. The woman claims Banks picked her up and put her outside the house during the argument. When she began to dial 911, Banks took her phone and refused to return it. At one point in the fight, the woman apparently armed herself with a knife out of fear of being “jumped” again.

Whatever the case may be and whichever details are actually true, this incident is just the latest example of an NFL player putting himself in a bad situation. In no way am I accusing Galette – quite the opposite — but regardless of whether he is guilty or not, Galette and other NFL players simply should not even make this situation a possibility.

When you’re in the public eye as often as these professional athletes are, and when so much is at stake for their career, it’s in their best interests to just steer clear of any potential wrongdoing and not even make these ugly situations a real possibility. There’s also the whole thing about just being decent and respectful human beings, so how about we just strive for that, guys?

After a rough 2014 off the field for Roger Goodell and the NFL, Galette’s arrest has America’s most popular league off to a disappointing start in 2015.
