There are at least three NFL teams fighting over the right to move to Los Angeles in the next few years. It appears the St. Louis Rams, formerly known as the Los Angeles Rams, could be the winners as Rams owner Stan Kroenke has made it known he plans to build an NFL stadium in the Los Angeles area.

“We are excited to unveil an expanded plan that will bring a world-class sports and entertainment district to Hollywood Park,” Terry Fancher, founder of Stockbridge Capital Group, said in a statement, according to CBS Sports. “We are committed to working with [the Kroenke Group] to build a project that will put Inglewood back on the map as home of the truly great sports and entertainment venues.”

Stockbridge Capital Group is partnering with the Kroenke Group, which is Kroenke’s real estate development firm, to give the people of Inglewood, Calif. an 80,000-seat stadium that will reportedly be state-of-the-art.

Kroenke purchased 60 acres of land early last year, which will be used for the grounds of the stadium. The Hollywood Park racetrack that went out of business in 2013 and is now owned by Stockbridge Capital Group will be used as the parking lot for the new stadium.

It should be made known that just because Kroenke is building a stadium in the Los Angeles area does not necessarily mean the Rams will be the team that will move there, although the entire point of the owner erecting a new place to play games is to move the team. Before any team can transfer cities, it must be approved by three-fourths of the league owners.

The stadium is expected to be completed by 2018.
