This week, the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos square off in a highly anticipated playoff matchup. Most of the hype surrounding the game revolves around Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck meeting in the playoffs. People love comparing the two, but they are still two separate people! Manning is one of the greatest to ever play the game. However, this year, the stats say that Luck had the better year. He outpaces Manning in almost every major stat except for completion percentage, where Manning still has a pretty healthy lead. Part of the reason for the difference, though, can be attributed to the idea that the Broncos have tried to focus more on a run game this season, whereas the Colts have lost hope of any production there.

This doesn't have a lot of significance, but it is a strange fact that both of them share. Both Manning and Luck opened their NFL careers by throwing TD passes on their first preseason pass. Who knows, maybe this symbolizes the mystical connection that they share that will lead them down parallel lives -- or maybe it's just coincidence.

One of Manning's biggest criticisms -- and trust me there are very few -- is that he is not as dominant of a player in the postseason as he is in the regular season. This is evidenced by his one Super Bowl ring in many tries and the fact that it took him six games before he got his first postseason win. Luck, meanwhile, got his first playoff win in year two. So now Luck tries to best Manning again by moving to a Super Bowl at a younger age.

Luck being relatively new to the NFL, the Colts under Luck and the Broncos under Manning have only met two times in the regular season. Once was this year, when the Broncos ended up beating the Colts. That put their head-to-head record at 1-1. I'm pretty confident that both of these quarterbacks would love if this was the game that put them ahead in that particular series.

Most people probably know of Peyton Manning's family lineage, with Eli, and of course his dad Archie. What's more surprising is that Andrew Luck shares a bloodline of NFL QBs. His dad, Oliver Luck, was a quarterback at West Virginia University, who then got drafted and played for the Houston Oilers. He played five seasons in the NFL.
