Aaron Rodgers Practicing a Sign of Good Things to Come

The Green Bay Packers got a good sign on Thursday when superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers practiced for the first time since re-injuring his calf muscle. Even though he did not take 100 percent of the snaps, there is no question him suiting up and participating with his teammates is certainly a sign of good things to come.

“Aaron practiced in the team periods. He looked good,” Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said, according to the team’s website. “He went down and did everything we asked him to do today. It’s always a better practice when he’s out there.”

McCarthy is right about that.

The Packers always seem to play better when Rodgers is under center. A big reason for that is because he is arguably the best player in football. Plus, the team appears to be more confident when he is leading them on the battlefield.

When Rodgers went down in Week 17 against the Detroit Lions, Green Bay saw their 14-0 lead vanish. A lot of that had to do with a lack of confidence from the other players. The look on their faces basically stated they did not believe they could keep up without their captain. Then, as if right on cue, Rodgers re-enters the contest in the third quarter and leads the Packers to victory.

It is that reason why it is so important for Rodgers to remain as healthy as possible leading up to Sunday’s divisional showdown against the Dallas Cowboys. Despite a small tear in his calf muscle, the signal caller is confident he will be able to get the job done. Still, his teammates must step up and pick up any slack that may be evident due to a possible lack of mobility.

Rodgers took approximately 50-60 percent of the snaps in practice on Thursday. Even though that may not seem like a lot to the average fan, it is exactly what McCarthy had planned for the practice. That means Rodgers is right on schedule for being ready for Sunday.
