The San Francisco 49ers' season didn’t go according to plan. So much uncertainty hovers over the team as the search for a new head coach is ongoing. Salary cap restrictions will lead to key free agents departing the team. Here are five free agents the 49ers should sign in 2015.

It’s a forgone conclusion that Pro Bowl guard Mike Iupati will sign elsewhere. The 49ers have limited cap space in 2015 to re-sign him. A cheaper option in New England Patriots guard Connolly (32) would cover the gaping hole left by Iupati. The offensive line was hampered by injuries in 2014. They should be healthier come 2015.

The New York Giants cut Hill because of multiple suspensions. He has resurrected his career with the Baltimore Ravens. The 24-year-old would be a nice addition to the 49ers' safety position. He could be a fantastic backup to Antoine Bethea and the oft-injured Eric Reid. A much younger option could prove to be beneficial to San Francisco’s future.

San Francisco should sign both their corners at all costs. They were fantastic as the secondary led the NFL with 23 interceptions. If need be, Thurmond would be a solid addition. He’s familiar with the NFC West and is coming off a season-ending pectoral injury. He would be a solid pickup for a young group of corners.

2. Kenny Britt

Britt has seen his fair share of up and downs in his career. Michael Crabtree is likely gone, and the 49ers will need to find a deep threat. Britt posted career-highs in catches (48) and yards (748) with division rival St. Louis Rams. The 6-foot-4 wide receiver would bring much-needed size to the 49ers' receiving corps.

The 49ers resurrected Glenn Dorsey’s career. Bowers’ career is heading towards being labeled a bust. San Francisco have two giant holes at defensive end. Ray McDonald was cut and Justin Smith could retire. The fifth-ranked defense in the NFL needs to find suitable replacements for next season.
