After missing out on the postseason, the Houston Texans have a lot to do this offseason in order to get into the playoffs. The first move the Texans will have to make is decide who will be slapped with the franchise tag. Here are the top five options the Texans could do with their franchise tag.

In his first true action as a starting quarterback, Ryan Mallett started two games and threw for 400 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Houston only gave up a low-round pick for Mallett, but flashed some potential and has plenty of experience from learning Bill O'Brien's offense in New England.

Houston's first-round pick in 2010, Kareem Jackson has had an inconsistent career so far, but with Andrew Luck in the division, good secondary players are a necessity for the Texans. Last season, Jackson recorded three interceptions, tied for a team-high, with nine pass deflections and 57 tackles.
