Chris Christie Will Be Right Next To Jerry Jones For Packers vs. Cowboys

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has been in the news the past week for essentially being Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ lucky charm. Jones has stated he wants Christie in his suite on Sunday when the Cowboys take on the Green Bay Packers for the first playoff matchup between the two teams at Lambeau Field since the 1967 NFL Championship, also known as the “Ice Bowl.”

Christie has taken flak from taxpayers and other politicians for taking as much time off as he has to party with Jones in what has to be the most eccentric owners box in all of football. More specifically, the taxpayers do not want to see their money go to waste so that Christie can travel the country to support his favorite NFL team. That is why the governor has made it clear he plans to pay his own way to legendary Lambeau Field to take in what is sure to be an instant classic between two historic franchises.

“Not wanting to risk breaking the team’s 5-0 streak by messing with karma, Governor Christie, his orange sweater and his son Andrew will all travel to Lambeau Field this weekend to attend the game against the Green Bay Packers,” Christie’s spokesman, Michael Drewniak, said in a statement, according to the Associated Press.

“The Governor will be paying for travel and tickets for himself, his sweater and his son to make sure we keep silliness out of the football season.”

Of course, it was Jones who stated he wants Christie by his side for the remainder of the playoffs, assuming the Cowboys remain relevant. No one can really blame him in that regard considering Dallas has had so much success when Christie is in attendance.

“He’s a Cowboy fan through and through,” Jones said last week. “I met him through the Cowboys, and I’m excited about it. He’s part of our mojo. I want him there all the way. … I want that orange sweater (in Lambeau Field), and we want him there.”

The Cowboys and Packers will lay it all on the line in the NFL divisional round on Sunday. The victor will play the winner of the Carolina Panthers-Seattle Seahawks contest for the right to play in Super Bowl XLIX.
