The Philadelphia Eagles have some veterans who no longer hold the value they once had. Here's a look at five players who the Eagles could move on from in 2015.

The Eagles bringing in Mark Sanchez and making him the backup over Matt Barkley spoke volumes as to where Barkley stood with the team. I think the Eagles will bring in a veteran QB, as well as draft one in May, so unless something drastic happens between now and then, Barkley could be in the crosshairs.

I went back and forth on this for a while, but ultimately I think it might be the end for DeMeco Ryans. With a $ 6.8 million savings and almost no dead money hit, the Eagles may elect to replace Ryans in the draft with (ideally) Shaq Thompson, or in free agency with a guy like Brandon Spikes.

Earl Wolff once showed promise, but couldn’t ever stay healthy. With Jerome Couplin around to develop, special teams aces Chris Maragos and Chris Prosinski, and an upgrade needed for Nate Allen, there just isn’t room anymore for Wolff.

2. TE James Casey

James Casey is a great special teams player, but offers little to nothing else to the team. With the promising Trey Burton waiting in the wings behind him, I expect the Eagles to save the $ 4 million on Casey’s salary and release him. Remember, Burton also plays special teams and has shown good progress there.

No surprise here. Releasing Cary Williams saves $ 7 million; he hasn’t played anywhere near the level of his contract, and his attitude doesn’t jive with the culture Chip Kelly is looking to create. A steadier performance from Nolan Carroll and a draft pick should easily negate the loss of Williams.
