The Denver Broncos shockingly decided to part ways with head coach John Fox after he failed to deliver a Super Bowl win after four seasons. The firing is the latest news to come out about the Broncos after they lost to the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL divisional round on Sunday. With Fox gone, here are five coaching candidates to replace him in Denver.

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is a huge reason why the team was able to turn around their defensive struggles in 2011 to the present. Fangio has decent job security in San Francisco, especially since many believe he could become the new head coach of the 49ers. If he doesn’t, the Broncos would be smart to jump on someone with his defensive expertise.

Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell has quite the history in college football and the NFL. Despite the fact Seattle’s offense doesn’t matchup up to the stellar defense, it’s still quite clear they can hang with the best of them. Bevell has helped develop Russell Wilson into a professional quarterback and he has made the running game one of the most explosive in the league. The Broncos would be in good hands if they took a chance on him.

Even though the Philadelphia Eagles high-flying offense may not be a good fit for Denver, there’s no denying the Broncos have the weapons to handle it. For that reason, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Eagles offensive coordinator become the head coach of the Broncos next season. Shurmur’s offensive scheme has given opposing defenses plenty to worry about, which is why he would be a perfect fit in Denver.

The Seattle Seahawks have the best defense in football. A big reason for that is the scheme defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has implemented. It would certainly be ironic that the man who essentially stifled Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl could possible join ranks with him. I can’t imagine anyone in the Broncos organization would have a problem with that. Quinn’s reputation for hard-nosed football would be a welcomed sight in Denver.

Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles will be one of the most sought after head coaching candidates this offseason, while the Broncos job just became the most popular. The Cardinals were able to stay afloat after numerous injuries due to the defense playing at an incredibly high level. Most of that has to do with what Bowles brings to the table. He has outstanding leadership skills, is well respected by the players and his defensive
