The Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers proved to be the two best teams in the NFC throughout the regular season and in the postseason. The Packers travel to Seattle for a game this Sunday with the NFC Championship and a Super Bowl berth on the line. Super Bowl winning quarterbacks lead each team, and it's destined to be a great game. Here are five things you didn't know about this promising matchup.

Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch are two of the very best at their position in the NFL. In 2004, Lynch and Rodgers were teammates on the UC Berkeley Golden Bears football team. Cal finished the regular season 10-1 and with a No. 4 ranking in the country.

The Packers and Seahawks opened up the NFL season in Seattle with the home team pulling away in the second half en route to a 36-16 win. Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy moved Jordy Nelson to the left side of the field for the game in hopes that it would lure cornerback Richard Sherman away from his customary right side. Sherman stayed put, blanketing Jarrett Boykin for most of the contest, and Rodgers never attempted a pass in his direction.

These are the two hottest teams in football heading into Sunday’s NFC Championship Game. Since losing way back in October in Week 8 to the Saints, the Packers have won eight of their last nine, the only blemish a Week 15 loss in Buffalo. After losing in St. Louis in Week 7, the Seahawks have proven to be Super Bowl favorites by winning 10 of their last 11 games.

Granted, the teams have only played twice since that 2009 game that saw the Packers dismantle the Seahawks 48-10 at Lambeau Field, but that’s still a lengthy gap between victories over a fellow NFC team. Since Pete Carroll took over as head coach in 2010, Seattle has defeated Mike McCarthy and Green Bay in both contests. The first came in the “Fail Mary” game, a 14-12 win, and the second in Week 1 of this season, a 26-16 victory.

Both Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson have led their teams to Super Bowl victories, so you know they’ve been good in the postseason, but just how good? Wilson holds the highest QB rating in playoff history at 109.6, and Rodgers is not far behind at 105.3, good enough for second. So, yeah, I’d say this has the makings of a great game.
