5 Players Who Will Be Released By Chicago Bears In 2015 Offseason

The Chicago Bears were perhaps the most disappointing team in all of football last year. After a horrendous 2014 season, the Bears fired Marc Trestman and hired John Fox. Although Fox was 46-18 during his tenure with the Denver Broncos, he will have his hands full in Chicago, as he is taking over a franchise that is in turmoil. He are five players who will be released over the offseason.

All season long, the Bears did not protect Jay Cutler. Obviously Cutler wasn't anything special in 2014, but for him to improve in 2015, he will need to have a better offensive line in front of him. By getting rid of Jermon Bushrod, the Bears have a guy in Charles Leno who turned a lot of heads last year in the draft process. Leno could be an immediate upgrade over Bushrod.

A different slide, but the same philosophy. Michael Ola, who was also on the left side with Bushrod, is another guy who needs to be released over the offseason. Behind Ola is Ryan Groy, who played his college football at Wisconsin. For those of you who don't know, Wisconsin produces the best offensive linemen to the NFL every year. Groy deserves the chance to start.

Cutler was ultimately so bad in 2014 that Jimmy Clausen had to start a game. Regardless, Clausen isn't anything special and the Bears have a promising young quarterback in David Fales. Clausen really serves no purpose in Chicago now that Trestman is out, and by having Fales as the backup, you have your quarterback of the future as the No. 2 quarterback.

Although Jeremiah Ratliff has been a decent player for the Bears over the past two years since coming over from the Dallas Cowboys, the Bears have two young defensive players who could be special in Ego Ferguson and Will Sutton. By getting rid of Ratliff, Sutton and Ferguson get more playing time, and that's huge for their development and their defense's overall prowess.

For years now, Bears fans have clamored for Chris Conte's head in Chicago, and to be honest, it's finally time for him to go. Conte really isn't special. He lacks coverage skills, and he isn't the best tackler either. The Bears need to bring in a new safety, and even if they don't draft one, they have a guy in Brock Vereen who could be a good player in Chicago for the foreseeable future.
