It was one of his worst performances in his career, but Russell Wilson still won the football game for the Seattle Seahawks on one of the biggest stages in all of professional football. Wilson had tons of trouble throughout this game, and although many thought he would perform extremely well against the Green Bay Packers‘ defense, the fact of the matter is that this defense caused a ton of trouble for Wilson. It also didn’t help that his receivers had a ton of drops throughout the game.

To show how bad Wilson was in this game, it should be said that he had a QBR of 13.6. To show how bad this number was, it also should be said that the QBR scale is based from 0-100. Another quarterback statistic that shows how bad he was in this game is quarterback rating. Wilson has a quarterback rating of 44.3. Russell was sacked five times and he was never comfortable throughout the day. But that’s no excuse for his off day.

With three minutes left, the Seahawks were down 12 and the chances of Seattle coming back were extremely slim. However, something clicked with Russell late in the game. In need of two touchdowns when the game mattered most, Russell marched his team down the field, not once, but twice. Three out of the last four drives were touchdowns with yardages of 69, 50 and 87.

Wilson finished the day completing 14 passes out of 29 attempts for 209 yards, a touchdown and four interceptions. Wilson also added 25 yards on seven carries and a touchdown. Whatever it was, Wilson was horrible in this game, and the skill players around him did not help out. Regardless, the Seahawks are on to the Super Bowl and the main reason is because of Wilson and his ability to beat adversity when the going got tough.
