Now Brandon Browner isn’t really a secret around the NFL.

In fact, the 6-foot-4, 220-pound man is about as conspicuous as a cornerback in the NFL can get. And obviously his name draws terror from any receiver, tight end or running back brave enough to run across the field and suffer his wrath. Just ask Ladarius Green. To add on to all of this, Browner will be facing his old team, the Seattle Seahawks, in the Super Bowl. So if you didn’t know of him before, you will now.

But it is because of his past with the Seahawks that Browner offers the New England Patriots a weapon not necessarily on the field for the Humongous Rumba. A secret weapon, if you will.

Everyone and their mother knows the Seahawks have a formidable defense that can shut down the best offenses and close on the ball carrier with amazing speed and power. If you need an example of this, just watch Kam Chancellor against the Carolina Panthers where he stopped 243-pound fullback Mike Tolbert dead in his tracks.

Teams try their best to prepare for this, but they’re never ready once the whistle is blown and it often takes the opponent at least a full quarter before their offense has adjusted to the physicality and speed of the Seahawks. Just look at last year’s Super Bowl if you want an example of a wildly under-prepared offense.

But Browner has been in this Seahawks defense. He knows how they practice, how they prepare and how they play on the field. Heck, he was one of their most physical, big-hitting players. He’s already been bringing this mentality to Patriots practice this entire season, but you can bet in the weeks leading up to the Big Dance he’ll be extra physical and extra strong to prepare the offense for what Seattle does best.

And just purely on the defensive side of the ball, Browner has practiced against Russell Wilson since the quarterback entered the league, and I’d bet he has a very good idea of how Wilson plays and has a few tips and tricks on how to stop him.

Now since the Patriots have been blamed for the science of air in a football condensing when it goes from a warm room to the cold field, thus making the football less inflated than it was previously, I’d be willing to bet many who read this article will instantly call foul, claiming that players telling their current team about past teams they have played with is cheating. Well it’s not.

It’s just another example of Bill Belichick using what he has around him; and in this case, he has a massive weapon in Browner who will not only help them on the field, but also to prepare for the biggest game of the season.
