NFL New England Patriots

Ray Lewis’ Comments On New England Patriots Are A Joke

On ESPN’s Pro Bowl pre-game show, Ray Lewis was the most recent of ESPN analysts to comment on Deflategate and accuse the New England Patriots of cheating.

First, let me remind all of you Patriots haters and just general NFL fans out there in the world, the NFL has found zero evidence the Patriots knowingly tampered with the PSI of the footballs in any way. In fact, it has recently come out that only one of the 11 balls that were under-inflated was under-inflated by the initial 2 PSI that was reported.

The other ten balls were under-inflated by roughly 1 PSI, which, as Bill Belichick (who is not a scientist let me remind you) pointed out in his press conference, can naturally occur throughout the time of a game.

But here’s Lewis claiming that the Patriots are cheaters without a shred of evidence. All of this is based on his own biases and this idea that because the Patriots were caught for Spygate, that somehow they’re the cheating-est organization in the NFL. Okay, so those comments in and of themselves are ridiculous. But then Lewis tops himself by slamming an asterisk on a championship the Patriots have yet to win.

Well if we’re just throwing asterisks around, then how bout we slap one next to the New Orleans Saints’ Super Bowl victory back in 2009, since then they were discovered to be paying defenders bonuses to injure opposing quarterbacks? Or Ray, how about we slap one on your Super Bowl win two years ago where you covered yourself with banned antler spray? Just saying, fair is fair.

Deflategate has taken a life of its own and people are always entitled to their own opinion, but it’s ridiculous to me that professional sports reporters are clamoring for Belichick and Tom Brady’s heads like a bloodthirsty mob when there isn’t any evidence they did anything. The NFL has no proof that the Patriots manipulated the balls’ PSI in any shape or form.

Ray can throw asterisks on whatever he wants, but having some proof behind you might help make those asterisks stick.
