When you’re the first team in nearly a decade to win a playoff game after winning the Super Bowl there really shouldn’t be a lot of changes you need to make heading into the next season. But if the Seattle Seahawks are being completely honest with themselves, they know that they need to clean up a few things if they have any hope of going back to the Super Bowl for a third season. Here are the five changes.

They cannot get caught up with all of the off the field distractions like endorsement deals, local television shows, and the overall special treatment they receive locally. Teams will come up with ways to stop what they do best and this team needs to be as focused as ever to overcome that and not have to play catch up again next year.

Enough with the silly press conferences to draw attention that yourselves. While the Seahawks are a talented team, they aren’t like the dynasties we saw from the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys in the 80’s and 90’s. The last thing they need is for everyone gunning for them and giving them the attention they so desire.

The Seahawks can only lose so many assistants before they start to see the effect on the field. When you try and plug in replacements you get game plans that aren’t as innovative, techniques that aren’t as sound, and advice and criticism falling on deaf ears.

2. Protect Russell Wilson

Wilson has been sacked over 86 times in the past two seasons and his number of carries has gone up each year he’s been in the league. He doesn’t take the big hits Robert Griffin III does, but in this league it’s just a matter of time. They need to add more playmakers around him so he’s not forced to make so many plays.

The team has said for two years now that this is probably it for Lynch in a Seahawk uniform but they need to revisit that stance. This team goes and Lynch goes, they didn’t start winning until they featured him offensively. He’s only 28, doesn’t have that much tread on him and had a career high in touchdowns this year.
