Now that the offseason is officially here for the majority of teams in the NFL, it's time to start thinking about the future. As far as the Miami Dolphins are concerned, the future looks bright for them. With that said, they still have decisions to make. For starters, they will have to decide whether or not to use the franchise tag this offseason. The following five players are the most worthy franchise tag candidates.

Defensive back Jimmy Wilson is one option to receive the franchise tag. He has played well for the Dolphins and is a very durable, dependable player overall. In 2014, he had 59 tackles and an interception in 14 games. While not an elite option, losing him would hurt the Dolphins' secondary. He might be worth the franchise tag for that reason, although there are better franchise tag options on the team.

Safety Louis Delmas is another possible player the Dolphins could place the franchise tag on. He may not be a household name, but he has been a productive player in his six NFL seasons. In 2014, that was no different. He had 61 tackles, one sack, two fumble recoveries and one interception. Should the Dolphins not agree on a long-term deal with him, the franchise tag could make some sense for both parties.

DT Jared Odrick is coming off of a down year, but he has proven to be a very capable player in the NFL. He has had at least 4.5 sacks in three of his five seasons in the league. Also, he has had at least four run stuffs each of the last three seasons, showing he is not just a pass-rushing DT. For those reasons, the Dolphins may not want to risk losing him, making him an interesting franchise tag candidate.

2. Knowshon Moreno

Lamar Miller proved capable of filling in admirably for Knowshon Moreno in 2014 due to injury. However, that does not mean there isn't room for two in this backfield. Given Moreno's skill set, he may be seeking a long-term contract worth a hefty price tag. Instead of losing him in free agency, it would make sense for the Dolphins to franchise him to see what he can do when healthy. He would no doubt be a highly-coveted free agent on the market.

The best option for the franchise tag in Miami, Charles Clay has a unique skill set that no other Dolphins TE possesses. He has decent size and can run well. He can also flat out play. He caught 58 passes for 605 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games in 2014. That may not seem like much, but the Dolphins were a team that loved to run last season. Miami lacks a solid TE behind him, making him too important to lose.
