To be perfectly honest, it would be a complete shock if the Minnesota Vikings used their franchise tag this year. Out of all their potential free agents, not one guy warrants the hefty price tag. However, let's take a look at five Vikings who could possibly be franchised, for argument's sake.

Wootton is nothing more than a backup tackle, but he is third-highest paid player who will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Maybe Minnesota fell in love with him?

Like Wootton, Johnson would have had to make a huge impact on Minnesota's brass to be considered for the tag.

3. Jerome Felton, FB

Fullbacks do not even have their own category as they are in the running back jurisdiction. So, Felton will not be given an $11 million contract, but he has to be a player the Vikings could consider keeping.

2. Jasper Brinkley, LB

If the first three on this list are considered fillers, then Brinkley should be in the a tier slightly above them. He made under $1 million in 2014 so he will not see a huge raise, but he definitely has some value.

Minnesota fans will throw a fit if the team does this, but Ponder makes this list just in case Teddy Bridgewater and Matt Cassel suffer season-ending injuries within the next couple of months.
