The Green Bay Packers have allowed the lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game soak in. Now, it is time for the organization to make quality managerial moves that will allow the team to flourish in 2015. The following are five players the Packers must release during the 2015 offseason.

Kevin Dorsey saw his first career action in the NFL in 2014 after spending time on the practice squad. He hauled in one pass for four yards and tallied two tackles on special teams in three games. Despite having one more year on his contract, there simply isn’t enough room on the roster for the wide receiver due to a surplus at the position. It’s that reason the team is better off releasing him and hoping he signs to the practice squad once again

It’s true that Brandon Bostick isn’t the lone reason the Packers lost the NFC Championship Game. However, Green Bay can’t keep a player on the roster who completely ignored his assignment and essentially lost the game on the biggest play of his life. The Packers are better off riding themselves of key people who cost them the game, which is why special teams coordinator Shawn Slocum already got fired.

Tim Masthay has statistically been one of the worst punters in the NFL for the past few seasons. His average of 44.1 punt yards per game and 37.0 net average yards per contest was among the worst in the league in 2014. He also was the worst punter when it came to landing balls inside the 20-yard line. Punting is a huge part of the game, and the Packers are not getting the necessary advantage they need to be at the position.

Brad Jones is nowhere near where the Packers expected him to be skill-wise. He’s a non-factor in the run game and he struggles in coverage. More importantly, the Packers will save $3.75 million if they cut him, which is money that can be better spent elsewhere. Plus, the Seahawks targeted him on the fake field goal in the NFC Championship Game. In fact, if he weren’t on the field during the field goal, Seattle never would have run the play.

It has been a long time coming for A.J. Hawk. The Packers appreciate everything he has done for them, including his great performance during the playoff run that led to a win in Super Bowl XLV. Unfortunately, he has clearly lost a step, which has cost Green Bay dearly in the run game. The Packers need an overhaul at inside linebacker. Not to mention, releasing Hawk will free up $3.5 million for Green Bay.
