The Washington Redskins have a lot of work to do this offseason if they want to get back to contending for a playoff spot. They have several areas on their roster that need to be addressed in the draft. Here is a look at the Redskins' mock draft as we head towards the NFL Combine.

Round 1: Brandon Scherff, OT, Iowa

Washington has the No. 5 pick in the draft and will be able to go in a lot of different directions with it. Going with an offensive lineman won't be exciting, but it is what they should do. Brandon Scherff is the top-ranked offensive tackle, and he would help keep Robert Griffin III healthy.

Round 2: P.J. Williams, CB, Florida State

Washington's secondary needs a lot of help this offseason, and P.J. Williams would be able to step in and contribute right away. He has an ideal combination of size and speed. Williams was the defensive MVP of the National Championship game as a sophomore.

Round 3: Chris Hackett, FS, TCU

The Redskins have to get an upgrade at safety. They were tied with Atlanta for the highest yards allowed per pass attempt. Chris Hackett in the third round would be a good selection for them. He is one of the highest rated free safeties in the class and would help cut down on the amount of big plays they allow.

Round 4: Kwon Alexander, OLB, LSU

Kwon Alexander would have a chance to start immediately as a fourth-round pick in Washington. He led LSU with 90 tackles last season and would be a great fit at inside linebacker in their 3-4 scheme. Alexander appears to be a relatively safe pick as far as fourth-rounders go which is what a team like Washington should be looking for.

Round 5: Charles Gaines, CB, Louisville

Charles Gaines is an interesting prospect and would be a worth a shot for Washington in the fifth round. He is a former wide receiver, so he naturally has good ball skills as a corner. Gaines also has experience returning kicks and punts. His versatility gives him a lot of value for a late-round pick.

Round 6: Adam Shead, OG, Oklahoma

After four straight defensive picks, it's time for Washington to go back to the offensive line. Adam Shead would provide some depth on the interior of their line. He would be a longer term project when it comes to being a starter, but he's worth a shot in the sixth round.

Round 7: James Castleman, DT, Oklahoma State

Drafting quality players in the seventh round requires a lot of luck. At the very least, teams can draft players who are known for being hard workers like James Castleman out of Oklahoma State. He won't get cheated out of his talent because of his work ethic. Best-case scenario, he becomes a rotational piece for their defensive line.

Eddie Lacy Could Barely Handle 30-Yard Run

Eddie Lacy is a short yardage specialist, and when he breaks these long runs he definitely will come out of the game every time. This huge run setup the Packers' go-ahead touchdown and they would never look back. Lacy would get his later in the game.
