5 NFL Draft Prospects Carolina Panthers Fans Need To Know About

The Carolina Panthers gave it their all in 2014, there’s no doubt about that. May’s draft will be a great opportunity for this team to build on their recent success. Here are five draft prospects who should be on the radar of every Panthers fan as the offseason progresses.

The Panthers’ receiving corps is still undergoing a transition after The Great Wide Receiver Exodus of 2014. After Kelvin Benjamin and Greg Olson, no Panther produced more than 580 yards receiving. Adding the 6-foot-3 Jaelen Strong, one of the highest-rated receivers in the 2015 class, to play alongside Benjamin would make for a scary pairing.

4. Jay Ajayi

Due to DeAngelo Williams surely not getting any younger, Jonathan Stewart’s injury history, and Fozzy Whittaker’s free agent status, it would be prudent for the Panthers to invest in a rookie running back. Jay Ajayi had an exceptional senior season, totaling 1,689 yards on the ground and a staggering quarter-century amount of touchdowns. Plain and simple, he’s just a guy you can see sporting Carolina blue.

3. Carl Davis

Viewed by many as a project because of his work ethic and attitude, Carl Davis has the potential to be a very good NFL player. He tore it up at points during Senior Bowl practice, displaying impressive speed for a 321-pound guy. With Dwan Edwards and Colin Cole both free agents, the Panthers would benefit from drafting a defensive tackle.

2. Eric Kendricks

Word out of Carolina is that the Panthers want to put as much distances between themselves and Greg Hardy as possible. There would be no better way to move on from the Hardy debacle than to draft an impact player like Eric Kendricks — a linebacker who is equally capable against the run and the pass and can play all three downs. The Panthers need a third linebacker to solidify their already stout corps.

Ronald Darby is perhaps the most naturally gifted cover corner in the 2015 class. It is a rarity for a receiver to be open very long against the Florida State product. The Panthers need a suitable partner for Josh Norman, and Darby is their guy.
