Behind the arm of rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, the Minnesota Vikings enjoyed some success in 2014 and will look to build upon that in the upcoming season. But their schedule won’t be easy, and the Vikings will have to prove they’re a good team by beating better teams. Here are five teams the Vikings need to beat next season.

Now this is a very tall order. The Seahawks will be one of the best teams in the NFL in 2015 and the Vikings are still trying to make it into top 10 consideration. However, if the Vikings can upset the Seahawks when they visit Minnesota, that will put the entire NFL on notice to pay attention to the purple and gold once again.

At the beginning of the 2014 season, the Chargers looked to be the best team in the NFL. But that changed rather quickly. Philip Rivers and the Bolts will be looking to rebound in 2015, but the Vikings will have to do their best to prevent that. The Chargers are a beatable team for the Vikings, and getting a win over them would be a big step in 2015.

Outside of the NFC North and the Denver Broncos, the Cardinals will be the Vikings’ biggest road game next season. Great teams win big games on the road, and if the Vikings want to start becoming a serious contender, they’ll have to be able to take down Carson Palmer and the Cardinals on the road.

Divisional opponents are always must-win games, and the Vikings and Lions will have two showdowns next year for the Vikings to prove themselves in. With Green Bay likely still sitting upon the throne of the NFC North, Minnesota and Detroit will be battling it out for second place in the division and a potential Wild Card spot.

Obviously, any time you beat the best team in your division, the rest of the league will take notice. If the Vikings ever want to return to dominance, they will have to take down Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. While winning a game (or both) against their rivals may not signal the end of Green Bay’s dominance, it could give the Vikings a blueprint for winning in seasons to come.
