Heading into the past two seasons, Miami Dolphins fans have had high expectations to not only clinch a playoff spot but to win the AFC East. Closing out the past two years, fans have experienced the exact opposite. If they want to change their fortune they’ll need to beat these five teams (one twice) to clinch a playoff bid for the first time since 2008.

During head coach John Harbaugh’s current seven-year tenure, the Ravens have been a consistent threat to make the playoffs every year and they’ve done so each season except for 2013. As long as he and quarterback Joe Flacco have a great relationship, they’ll continue to be a threat in the tough AFC North.

Projecting how well the Eagles are going to do is tricky because we don’t really know for sure who the quarterback will be heading into the season. Will head coach Chip Kelly stick with Nick Foles, or will he make a move to trade up and get Marcus Mariota in the 2015 NFL Draft? Like the Ravens, they’ll have a tough division again in 2015.

Head coach Chuck Pagano has the Colts in position to be a threat for many years to come. His biggest task this offseason will be to improve their defensive front, but as long as the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars continue to be, well, the Titans and Jaguars, he really only has to worry about the Houston Texans to win the AFC South.

The Cowboys shocked everybody this year with how well their defense played. It helps that head coach Jason Garrett decided to rely on the legs of DeMarco Murray as opposed to the arm of Tony Romo so he could keep his defense off the field. How he and Jerry Jones plan to handle the contracts of Murray and Dez Bryant will weigh heavily on their success in 2015.

This is pretty obvious, right? After winning the Super Bowl this past season, the Patriots proved that no matter how they start their season they’ll be a threat to win the AFC East every year Bill Belichick and Tom Brady are in town. They will have Miami and the Buffalo Bills right on their heels for the division in 2015, but they are the clear-cut favorites to win it again.
