After surprising everyone including themselves by making the playoffs in 2014, the Dallas Cowboys will enter this year with even bigger goals in mind. In order to reach these goals, they will have to beat some pretty talented teams on their schedule. Here are the five teams the Cowboys must beat in order to make it back to the playoffs.

I realize that the Redskins are coming off another last-place finish in the division, but this rivalry is so big that it’s a must-win every time these two teams get together. This will be a nice victory to remind the people in D.C. who is still the class in the NFC East, and also a good reminder of how far they have to go to get there.

This will be a return to the scene of the crime that robbed the Cowboys of a trip to the NFC Championship game. It could prove to be the difference between having home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and having to return to a frosty Green Bay in the postseason again; and we all know how that ended last time.

Since the Cowboys will play their annual Thanksgiving game on CBS this year, that means they will play an AFC team at home. The only two options are the New England Patriots or the pathetic New York Jets, so it’s a no-brainer that they will get a shot at Tom Brady and company in front of a national audience. This is the time of the year when the Cowboys find out their identity for the season.

In order to be the best, you have to beat the best. I know the Patriots won the Super Bowl, but if they want an official changing of the guard to take place in the NFC, the Cowboys must send a message to the Seahawks that the time is now.

The Cowboys’ main competition for the division are the Philadelphia Eagles. They must win the division in order to have a realistic shot at going to the Super Bowl because it’s unbelievably tough to win three straight road games in the postseason.
