Denver Broncos Using Franchise Tag On Demaryius Thomas Was the Only Move

The Denver Broncos had a great season and a not-so-great postseason. Regardless, they just made the best move of their offseason so far.

Needless to say, using the franchise tag on Demaryius Thomas was the only move. After all, he is a top WR in the NFL, and that will stay the case for years to come.

Thomas is coming off a season in which he racked up 1,619 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. Not a bad year at the office.

Although people can definitely say he has benefited quite a bit by receiving passes from Peyton Manning, he is still one of the best WRs in the game.

Thomas is coming off the best year of his professional career. Who knows if he will match his numbers from this past season in the upcoming season, but you have to like his odds if Manning returns. There is also that fact that he is only 27 years old. Translation: He has plenty of solid football left in him.

This was really a move that the Broncos had to make. They have many questions to answer this offseason, and this was one of the biggest ones. Next step will be actually getting a long-term deal in place. Oh yeah, and also figuring out what to do with Julius Thomas. However, things are not looking great on that end.

This is yet another move that will help Denver stay in the spotlight not only during this offseason, but the foreseeable future as well.
