Players who are considered the franchise stars don’t get traded often, let alone in blue-collar sports towns like Philly. Apparently, Philadelphia Eagles head coach and football czar Chip Kelly has other ideas.

From the moment he entered the organization to his latest against-the-grain move of dealing LeSean McCoy, I think it’s clear that a philosophy is being formed here. Similar to how Bill Belichick has built his New England Patriots empire, it seems Kelly believes he can plug nearly anyone into his uptempo offensive system and have it keep on trucking.

Kelly craves a dynamic quarterback, stability and solid play along the offensive line. These are the key ingredients to his success in the NFL so far. Other than that, however, it feels like receiver and running back are both interchangeable parts.

It is a risky proposition for sure. For the second straight year, Kelly has jettisoned an elite playmaker after cutting ties with DeSean Jackson last offseason. There is no doubt that the Eagles have a boatload of cash as the impending free agency period looms. The Eagles will be extremely active, especially on the defensive side of the ball, and fans can count on that.

What becomes of the offense, though, is just about anyone’s guess. Will Kelly push all his chips in the middle for quarterback prospect Marcus Mariota? He could, but he might have another trick up his sleeve. Kelly has been a total wildcard so far in the NFL, and that doesn’t look to be changing anytime soon.
