5 Late-Round Sleepers the Carolina Panthers Should Target In 2015 NFL Draft

A lot of fans have had enough of the draft coverage by the time the second half of the NFL draft begins, but it can be the difference between winning and losing. Last season, the Carolina Panthers were able to get Bene Benwikere in the fifth round, and he turned into a starting corner as a rookie. Here are five players Carolina should target in the back end of the draft.

Erick Dargan has two things going for him to be a good late-round pick. He is a very smart player, and he already has experience playing on special teams. The question marks on Dargan are about his overall speed and athleticism. He will be a sixth or seventh-round pick and should be able to contribute in some way as a rookie.

4. Ray Drew, DE, Georgia

Ray Drew is projected to be a fifth-round pick and would be a great fit for Carolina. They need to add a pass rusher, and Drew has the potential to be an effective player in the pros. He didn't have the best production in college, but some of that was due to what he was being asked to do. Drew could become a rotational pass rusher as a rookie for the Panthers.

Josh Robinson feels like one of those players everyone knows will find a role in the NFL, yet everyone passes on him. He has the power to run people over and also displayed good hands in the passing game. Robinson is projected as low as a seventh-round pick, which would be a steal for Carolina at that point.

Chris Conley was one of the big winners of the NFL Combine, which isn't always a good thing. Conley ran a 4.35 40-yard dash and had a 45-inch vertical. The problem is that he only caught 36 passes last season. He did show flashes of his talent in certain games, and that might be enough to take a flyer on him in the fifth round.

The former Auburn quarterback will be making a transition to defense in the NFL. The Panthers would be a good fit for him, because they could even use him in some of their read-option packages with Cam Newton. He will be a project in terms of making it in the secondary, but he is a good enough athlete to take a chance on.
