Heading into this year’s free agent market, the Philadelphia Eagles have the potential to fill many of the holes that currently plague their roster. With over $ 50 million in cap space, the Eagles will have the ability to go out and sign whoever they want. If the Eagles hope to make a return to the NFL playoffs in Chip Kelly’s third year, here are five perfect free agency moves they need to make.

Last week the Eagles released Todd Herremans, creating an opening on their offensive line. Standing at a staggering 6-foot-7, something Chip Kelly is known to like, Orlando Franklin would be a great fit. After starting his career at right tackle, Franklin moved to left guard for the Broncos last season. Making a transition to right guard should be no problem if Franklin signs with the Eagles.

4. Chris Culliver - Cornerback

Without a doubt, the biggest problem for the Eagles last season was the poor play of their secondary. With three of last year’s four starters no longer with the team, the Eagles could easily solve their problem in free agency. As a native of Philadelphia, Chris Culliver would be an excellent addition for the Eagles. Last season with the 49ers, the 6-foot Culliver had four interceptions and 15 pass deflections.

3. Jason Worilds - Outside Linebacker

The Eagles may have reportedly acquired linebacker Kiko Alonso earlier this week, but that does not mean that they no longer need any help at the linebacker position. After releasing Trent Cole and Brandon Graham returning to the team remaining uncertain, Jason Worilds would fit in well with the Eagles. Having 7.5 sacks last season, Worilds would give the Eagles one of the most complete linebacking corps in the NFC.

Even if the Eagles sign someone like Chris Culliver, they will still need plenty of secondary help. With Nate Allen no longer with the team, seeing former Patriots safety Devin McCourty lining up next to last season’s free agent signing Malcolm Jenkins would be a welcomed sight in Philadelphia. Last season with New England, McCourty registered 59 tackles and two interceptions.

Possibly the most talked about free agent name in Philadelphia right now is former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Byron Maxwell. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing in at 207 pounds, Maxwell possesses the size that head coach Chip Kelly desires. After seeing guys like Nnamdi Asomugha, Cary Williams and Bradley Fletcher constantly getting beat for the last four years, Maxwell is a signing that would be perfect for the Eagles.
