The New Orleans Saints have the worst salary cap situation in the league going into free agency, but if there is a front office filled with magicians when it comes to negotiating the cap, it resides in New Orleans. Here are the top five players on their wish list.

Depending on what happens with Jahri Evans and Ben Grubbs, the Saints may be in the market for a replacement guard. Clint Boling would be an affordable upgrade at the position.

The Saints don’t necessarily need another wide receiver, but if they can land a guy like Michael Crabtree at a discounted price, you better believe they’ll give it a shot. Having a talent like Crabtree on the receiving end of passes from Drew Brees would be a frightening prospect for opposing secondaries.

3. Mark Ingram

Both the Saints and Mark Ingram’s camp have stated that they want the former Heisman Trophy winner to stay in New Orleans, but if the bidding gets too high, the Saints will be pushed out of the running. Re-signing Ingram looks to be the Saints’ top priority during the free agency period.

2. Terrance Knighton

Having a big, gap-filling, run-stopping defensive tackle is all but essential in today’s NFL, and “Pot Roast” certainly fits that bill. Terrance Knighton excelled in Jack Del Rio’s defense and is a much more affordable option than the top free agents like Ndamukong Suh. If the price to land him stays low enough, expect the Saints to make a serious push.

The Saints desperately need help in the secondary, and Kareem Jackson might be the best corner on the market this offseason. He’s young and amazingly talented, meaning that he could be a stalwart presence on the outside for years to come. The only reason this move doesn’t happen is if the price gets too high.
