The San Diego Chargers have several holes that they will need to fill in order to compete for a playoff spot next season. They will likely look to target instant contributors early in the draft, but there are always several sleepers who end up falling to the later rounds. Here are five players the Chargers can look to go after towards the end of the draft.

5. Stefon Diggs - Wide Receiver

The Chargers need a home-run threat, and even with the addition of Jacoby Jones, they could still use another wide receiver with speed on the outside. Diggs’ size and character questions will drop him to one of the later rounds, but the Chargers need to add a player with his skill set to the roster.

4. Ifo Ekpre-Olomu - Cornerback

The Oregon cornerback was one of the top defensive backs in the country last year before getting injured. While he lacks ideal size, he makes big-time plays and could be the team’s nickel cornerback once he gets healthy. Even though the Chargers already have several undersized cornerbacks, they should not be afraid to gamble on Ekpre-Olomu if he falls in the draft.

3. Ellis McCarthy - Nose Tackle

McCarthy declaring early was a little bit of a surprise, but he has the size and athleticism to be effective in the league if he can stay in proper shape. He lined up at various defensive line positions in college, but has the potential to develop into a quality, run-stuffing nose tackle with the right coaching. The Chargers need help on the line, and McCarthy should be available later in the draft.

2. Karlos Williams - Running Back

Williams switched to running back later in his career and still has a lot of developing to do. However, he has very good speed and great size for the position. The potential is there, and the Chargers should be willing to take a gamble on him late in the draft. He is also a capable special teams player.

O’Leary has excellent hands and is above-average in many aspects of the game. He won’t necessarily be a star for the Chargers at tight end, but O'Leary can easily develop into a do-it-all type. The team could use him as a versatile second or third tight end who can make plays when needed.
