Top 5 Players On the Falcons’ 2015 NFL Free Agency Wish List

Written on top of the Falcons’ wish list in big, bold text is “get a pass rusher.” And that’s underlined five times with a red Sharpie. But that’s not all that’s on the Falcons’ wish list. Here are the top five players the Falcons would love to sign this offseason.

Byron Maxwell would have made the top of the list but he just got snatched by the Philadelphia Chip Kellys. Cromartie is getting older but is still a very good cornerback, and adding him alongside Desmond Trufant would give the Falcons a pretty good starting corner duo. It always helps to have more corners when you’re facing Drew Brees and Cam Newton twice a year.

Spiller can do a little bit of everything and that’s exactly what the Falcons want from their backs. While he does have an injury history, Spiller has speed and elusiveness to break off big runs as well as good hands to make plays out of the backfield. He’d add another element to an already element filled Falcons offense.

The Falcons haven’t had a difference maker at tight end since Tony Gonzalez. Cameron, despite his injury history, is a big target who could easily come in and be Matt Ryan’s new best friend -- well, maybe not his best friend. Julio Jones has that title locked down. Cameron would give the Falcons an inside-outside threat in the passing game that they haven’t had in a long time.

2. Brian Orakpo

Orakpo would have to learn to play with his hand in the ground in Dan Quinn’s system, but that's not the end of the world. He has the size to play Leo end in the 4-3 and still possesses the 10-plus sack skills that he flashed early in his career. Obviously, pass rush is their big Christmas wish, so the Falcons would be smart to go all in and get Orakpo at a reasonable price.

Add Hardy with Orakpo and you’ve got yourself a pass rushing duo! All the Falcons’ pass rushing problems would be instantly solved. Hardy comes with his baggage, but he can get after the quarterback and that’s what Atlanta needs more than anything. He’ll have a hefty price tag on him, which is why, again, this is a wish list, not a “will happen” list.
