10 Times The New York Jets Hated Their Draft Picks

The New York Jets haven't historically been bad at drafting -- but when they mess up -- they miss so badly that you would think they made the pick in the same way you'd do so when playing pin the tail on the donkey. With that being said, here's ten times the Jets hated their draft picks.

10. Kyle Wilson - 2010 - First Round

In 2010, defense was all the rage in New York Jets land as Rex Ryan was the head coach. The Jets decided to take Boise State DB Kyle Wilson in the first round, and have been crying about it ever since. Wilson did not start one game for the Jets in 2014, and ultimately signed with the New Orleans Saints over the offseason.

9. Mark Sanchez - 2009 - First Round

New York moved up to the No. 5 overall pick in 2009 and took Mark Sanchez. He ultimately played in just four seasons for the Jets and now is heading into his second with the Philadelphia Eagles. Meanwhile, the Jets are still heartbroken and in need of a QB as a result.

8. Vernon Gholston - 2008 - First Round

8. Vernon Gholston - 2008 - First Round
Two big, giant, absolutely devastating words: Vernon Gholston. New York took this guy at No. 6 overall in 2008 to be an undeniable pass-rushing machine. Instead, he played in three seasons with the Jets, and accumulated zero sacks. Gholston is no longer in the NFL.

7. Stephen Hill - 2012 - Second Round

Coming out of Georgia Tech, there were some who actually claimed WR Stephen Hill could be similar in ability to fellow Yellow Jacket, Calvin Johnson. Instead, Hill has accumulated 594 yards in the league over three seasons, and did not appear in a single game with the Carolina Panthers in 2014.

6. Dee Milliner - 2013 - First Round

Dee Milliner was taken in the first round of the 2013 draft in a move that was supposed to make up for losing Darrelle Revis. Instead, just two years later, Revis has won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots and is now back on the Jets because Milliner didn't do a good enough job replacing him. Oh, the irony.

5. Calvin Pryor - 2014 - First Round

And then in 2014, New York tried again to fortify the secondary by taking Calvin Pryor in the first round. While the verdict is still out on Pryor, the fact that Revis and Antonio Cromartie were brought back to town makes this pick look pretty terrible right now.

4. Kyle Brady - 1995 - First Round

In 1995, the Jets decided to pass on future Hall of Fame defensive lineman Warren Sapp, and instead take a TE, Kyle Brady, with the No. 9 overall pick. Now that you've taken a minute to laugh, you must know to make it worse, Brady played in just four seasons with the organization.

3. Mike Nugent - 2005 - Second Round

For some crazy reason, New York decided to take a kicker in the second-round of the 2005 draft in Mike Nugent. Nugent is not a bad kicker and is still in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals, but the Jets decided to only keep him in town for four seasons, which is just plain stupid after taking him so early.

2. Blair Thomas - 1990 - First Round

New York made a bold move and took a RB at No. 2 overall in the 1990 draft in Blair Thomas. Thomas went on to accumulate around 2,000 yards for the Jets, but it took him four seasons to do so! This pick simply set the Jets back a light year, if not longer.

1. Vladimir Ducasse - 2010 - Second Round

1. Vladimir Ducasse - 2010 - Second Round
In another brilliant move that took place during the Rex Ryan administration, the Jets took Vladimir Ducasse, an offensive lineman, with their second round pick in 2010. It didn't seem to bother the Jets that Ducasse played for a D1-A school in UMASS and he'd hardly had much experience playing football prior as he originally hails from Haiti. As you can guess, Ducasse is no longer with the organization after four years in which he made little impact.
