Breaking Down Indianapolis Colts' Opponents For 2015 NFL Season

By Jerry Landry

Fear the beard will apply to more than just James Harden in 2015. Although the beard lays a little lower, on the neck specifically, Andrew Luck is set to give Aaron Rodgers a run at the unofficial QB belt. Here’s who the Indianapolis Colts must conquer and here’s to hoping Luck sticks with the uniquely disheveled look.

13. Houston Texans

The Texans went 9-7 in 2015 without a steady quarterback. But now with Brian Hoyer, get ready to blow the roof off of NRG stadium! Okay, I kid. But really, the Texans should be a solid 10-6 team, and it’s fair to expect a series-split with the Colts — unless Luck reads this and decides to go full-on “Beard Mode.”

12. New England Patriots

As long as Tom Brady has two patellas pointing forward, the Patriots will be a formidable franchise. Here’s the last five years’ worth of regular season records: 12-4, 12-4, 12-4, 13-3, 14-2. This is more than just a trend, it’s a reality.

11. New Orleans Saints

The Saints are tough to gauge for 2015, giving up Jimmy Graham, signing both Mark Ingram and C.J. Spiller and yet still dealing with cap casualties. Drew Brees is a saving grace and Sean Payton is stellar, but the Saints are still that 4 to 12 win team that carries a lot of questions.

I’m starting “the Curse of Jack Del Rio.” Mark my words, the Jaguars will continue to suffer after parting with Del Rio and the Oakland Raiders will prosper under the Silver and Black’s new hire.

Here’s another prediction: 2015 Cam Newton will run parallel career arc to 2014 John Wall. Watch for transcendence from this talented athlete who has frequently been regarded as immature.

8. Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are locked up with Ndamukong Suh, but they still have gaping holes on both sides of the ball. They will be 8-8 at best, 2-14 at worst. Prove me wrong Miami, and I'll give you Snowflake's whereabouts.

7. New York Jets

Todd Bowles will be immediately motivated as the new coach in the relatively-new confines, but the new headmaster will need to fight through the malaise that has followed the Jets since Joe Namath became a Los Angeles Ram.

6. Buffalo Bills

It's a new coach, but it may be same old story. And if you recall correctly, that would be great news — at least in the beginning. Rex Ryan will get a lot out of his players, but he’ll also wear the organization thin on resources. Expect an exciting 2015 and maybe even 2016, but the parade will eventually come to a stop.

5. Tennessee Titans

The Titans’ future could weigh highly on their 2015 No. 2 draft pick. This will be a great indication of where the franchise is going and what the Titans could be capable of. Unless Tennessee figures out the QB situation, it’ll be nothing better than about a win per month.

4. Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons have talent and a new stadium around the corner, but for now they are under upheaval. I’d put the Falcons side-by-side with the Saints, yet with less of a home-field advantage — especially since they’ll be pumping in less crowd noise. Sorry for that one, Falcons fans!

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Like the Titans, the future of the Buccaneers hinges on their No. 1 overall pick. The good thing about the Bucs, though, is that I’d take Lovie Smith over Ken Whisenhunt if they were the last two coaches on earth. Smith will eventually get down to what works, and the Bucs will be a team that could steal six or seven wins in 2015.

2. Denver Broncos

Peyton Manning holds competitive grudges as jilted lovers remember their first heartbreak. Manning will be zeroed in on this matchup, and since it isn’t a playoff game, he’ll probably win this one.

1. Pittsburgh Steelers

I’m just as high on the Steelers as I am on the Colts. These two teams should be two of the top three seeds for the AFC playoffs. Ben Roethlisberger, Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown are the new big three. Pittsburgh just needs to figure out what to do with that defense.
