The NFL pulled a panel from the NCAA “wheel of discipline” in handing down a one-game suspension for New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount.

What really makes this “collegiate” is that this punishment reflects behavior from August of 2014.
#Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount has been suspended 1 game for violating the NFL substance abuse policy. Stems from Aug arrest for marijuana

What took the NFL so long? Was the shield afraid of improperly disciplining a player yet again? Either way, Blount was punished effective five months from now for something he did eight months ago. One game seems “okay” for using a pain-numbing drug that is a violation of NFL policy, yet legal in four states and a district. I mean, it’s not like Blount punched another player or something.
