5 Still Available 2015 NFL Free Agents the Carolina Panthers Should Sign

The Panthers underwhelmed last season after showing so much promise the season before. But even with their setbacks, they still won the division and are poised to establish themselves as the top team in the NFC South. These five free agents could help shore up the Panthers' holes and make them a consistent playoff contender.

Protecting Cam Newton has to be Carolina’s top priority, and with the buzz about their interest in LSU’s La’el Collins, it seems as though the team agrees. McQuistan is best built for a reserve role now, but can be a valuable backup at both the left tackle and guard spots. He wouldn’t break the bank at all and Carolina could use a guy like that.

The young Tre Boston took over for Thomas DeCoud midway through the season and looked like an upgrade. But the Panthers would be smart to have a suitable Plan B in place in case Boston can’t step his game up consistently. Pollard definitely fits into the Panthers’ tough defensive mentality, and I think he’d make a lot of sense.

The team finally decided to move on from Deangelo Williams’ massive contract and hand the starting job to Jonathan Stewart. The only problem with that is Stewart is always in and out with injuries. Moreno would be good as a spot starter and change of pace option to Stewart, and also would allow the Panthers to start stocking the cupboards with wide receivers.

Maybe coming back home to Carolina is what Nicks needs to resurrect his career finally. Philly Brown needs to stay in the slot and the combination of Ted Ginn Jr, Jarrett Boykin and Stephen Hill might produce a good reserve or two. A healthy Nicks, however rare that might be, comes cheap and has the highest upside out of anyone on the roster not named Kelvin Benjamin.

Crabtree has great upside, too, and the longer he sits on the waiver wire, the more I expect him to finally ease up on his contract demands. He’s younger than Nicks, more explosive, and I think he’d be the ultimate free agent filler the Panthers could get. A motivated Crabtree could do wonders for Carolina’s passing attack and Newton’s stats.
