Trying to predict what’s going to happen in the draft is an unenviable task that not even a local weatherman would want. With 32 different teams and 32 different brain trusts, it gets pretty difficult to decipher smoke from fire. One of the less specific predictions that can be a bit easier to make is which teams will be active on the trade front come draft day, and these five organizations are likely candidates in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Even though they don’t have a first-round pick, the Seattle Seahawks are loaded for bear with a league-high 11 draft choices in 2015. Their first pick may not be slated to happen until No. 63 overall, but don’t be surprised if Seattle packages some of their many choices to move up if they target a particular player earlier. It may not happen in Round 1, but early Round 2 is an area where the Seahawks could make their move.

Any time a team has multiple first-round picks speculation is bound to be rampant about them packaging those selections in order to move up and target a true difference maker. The fact that the Cleveland Browns have the second-most picks of any team with 10 only furthers that hypothesis. Whether it’s Marcus Mariota or some other player, it wouldn’t be a shock to see the Brownies associated with a deal on draft night.

3. New York Giants

Word is that the New York Giants are quite fond of Leonard Williams. Though he’s widely considered the top talent in the 2015 draft class, the two quarterbacks are still thought to be the top two picks when Round 1 kicks off. This could lead to a move up the draft board for general manager Jerry Reese as he attempts to get one last hurrah from the careers of Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning.

2. New England Patriots

Generally the yearly candidate for trading down, this year the New England Patriots may be a bit more willing to move up the board instead. Tom Brady may want to play until he’s 50, but the likelihood of that actually happening is between slim and none. That means the Pats need to maximize his waning years at the helm by upgrading the talent around him for another run at the Lombardi. This could entice Bill Belichick to trade up next week.

Paging Marcus Mariota. Connecting the dots on this Chip Kelly scheme has been fairly straightforward from the start. There are questions about Mariota being able to transition to the NFL, just as there were with Kelly when he arrived from Oregon. Matching these two together solves all of those issues in one fell swoop. It will take a huge investment, but the No. 2 or No. 3 overall selection will likely belong to Philly on draft night.
