Grading The Texans’ 2014 Draft Class

In the days leading up to the 2015 NFL Draft, I will grade each draft pick that the Houston Texans have made from 2002 until 2014. To kick things off, here are my grades for the 2014 class.

1st Round (No. 1 Overall): Jadeveon Clowney, DE/OLB, South Carolina

Clowney never made an impact in 2014, playing in just two games before injuries took their toll.

2nd Round (No. 33 Overall): Xavier Su'a-Filo, OG, UCLA

Su'a-Filo played in 13 games last year, but he looked overmatched in spot duty. Su'a-Filo is expected to be the starting left guard this coming season.

Fiedorowicz was simply outmatched and overwhelmed in 2014. He only had four receptions for 28 yards and one touchdown for the entire season.

Savage only had limited action in 2014 due to injury, but he looked okay in his only start. Against Indianapolis, Savage completed 10-of-19 passes for 127 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.

Used only as a rotational defensive end, Pagan had just 10 combined tackles in 16 games played.

Blue made the most impact out of any rookie in this class. In 16 games, Blue carried the ball 169 times for 528 yards and two touchdowns.
