To prepare for the 2015 NFL Draft on April 30, I examined the past 20 years of draft picks by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The third round has been a good round to find Pittsburgh some receivers. Here are their five best picks from Round 3 since 1995.

5. Emmanuel Sanders (No. 82 overall, 2010)

There is no doubt that Emmanuel Sanders will spend his best years playing for a team other than Pittsburgh. Sanders’ production increased in each of his four years with the team. In the 2013- season with Pittsburgh, Sanders had 67 receptions and 740 yards. He signed with the Denver Broncos in the offseason and had his first 1,000-yard season in 2015.

4. Mike Wallace (No. 84 overall, 2009)

In his rookie year, Mike Wallace led all NFL WRs by averaging 19.4 yards per reception. In his sophomore year, Wallace bumped that average up to 21 yards per catch and totaled over 1,000 yards with 10 touchdowns for the season. Wallace made the 2011 NFL Pro Bowl and headed to the Miami Dolphins in free agency, where he has underwhelmed with his production.

3. Mike Vrabel (No. 91 overall, 1997)

Mike Vrabel was drafted by Pittsburgh and spent four years with the team. Vrabel went on to become an important piece to the New England Patriots' run of dominance over the AFC East. He finished his career with 704 tackles, 57 sacks, 11 forced fumbles, 11 interceptions and 10 – yes 10 – touchdowns. Sports Illustrated named him to the All-Decade Team of the 2000s.

2. Joey Porter (No. 73 overall, 1999)

Joey Porter was ferocious and, at times, downright terrifying on a football field. Porter was a four-time Pro Bowler and a four-time All-Pro. He was also named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team. Porter was the first player in NFL history to have at least 70 career sacks and 10 career interceptions.

1. Hines Ward (No. 92 overall, 1998)

Hines Ward is arguably one of the best WRs of all time. Ward was a four-time Pro Bowler, three-time NFL second team All-Pro and Super Bowl XL MVP. Ward retired as Pittsburgh’s all-time leader in receptions, receiving touchdowns and receiving yards. He is also ranked 10th in NFL history with 1,000 receptions. Ward will go down as one of the toughest, possibly dirtiest, WRs ever.
