Bryce Petty Will Be A Franchise Quarterback With New York Jets

The New York Jets just changed the inflection of their “backpage” culture. The Todd Bowles era just might grow into an epoch and Bryce Petty may become the face of the franchise. Yeah, I’m saying it.

Before you slam me for being so high on Petty, remember this: You know nothing. You didn’t know Russell Wilson would join the NFL‘s elite in under two years and you didn’t know Tom Brady would eventually make you feel so miserable for still living with your parents. So take off your rosy beer goggles, order another basket at Hooters and buckle up, draft nerds.

ESPN pundits have wind-bagged ad nauseam the work ethic, intelligence and heart of Petty. Yet the ESPN stepson of a website, Grantland, knocked Petty on accuracy and pocket poise, things Petty wasn’t exactly required to reveal with the Baylor Bears. Both clandestinely competing sources agreed that Petty has the size to be an NFL quarterback and definitely has the arm.

So why are we so afraid to put just one toe over the line with Petty? No off-the-field issues, no PR brain farts and I’ve yet to see even one crab leg. Look just one more time to your franchise quarterbacks: Peyton Manning — works his tail off, watches game film like he’s catching up on ‘Breaking Bad.’ Aaron Rodgers — fell in the draft, chip on the shoulder, massively intelligent. Again, Russell Wilson — no off-the field issues (unless you have a problem with charity), incessant motor, smartest player on the field.

But yeah, how about we keep implicitly comparing Petty to every other star NFL quarterback without having the spine to say their names.

Did you watch Petty throw at the combine? Or did you just take a glance and say “So what? He’s a ‘system’ quarterback.” Get over that stigma and evolve, you knuckle-dragger. If you can’t do it for me, do it for the sake of living in 2015. Andre Ware happened 25 years ago. It’s time to let it go.

The NFL is constantly culling from the college game. I mean, you do realize that Petty was asked to make many of the same reads as Brady did for the New England Patriots in 2014, right? Of course you knew that, how soon should I forget that you know everything.
