If the Cincinnati Bengals wanted a boring player, they went in the exact opposite direction with Josh Shaw. The former USC player was previously caught in a pretty bad lie, but we won’t go into further details on that story right now.
The Bengals are getting a player who has played cornerback and safety — versatility is a very good thing, especially in the NFL. They are also getting a player who has great size at the CB position.
Considering Shaw’s stock took a hit from the lie we won’t get into, you could say Cincy is getting a great value pick with him. After all, you would think a larger corner who is capable of taking on many different roles (positions) would go much higher than pick No. 120.
The Bengals are coming off a 10-5-1 season in which they made the playoffs. Making the playoffs once again will certainly be the goal in 2015. The offense certainly needs some work and Andy Dalton receives a good amount of criticism, but this still is a playoff contender just about every single year — well, as of late.
Who knows where Cincinnati will place Shaw, but if he can get his character issues in check, which he seems to be doing, then the Bengals should be able to find a solid role for him in the upcoming future.
