5 Green Bay Packers Training Camp Battles to Watch in 2015

Although they had a terrible finish to the 2014 NFL season, the Green Bay Packers are focused on getting back to the Super Bowl this upcoming season. To get to that point, they needed to improve over the offseason, and after bringing back Randall Cobb and adding talent via the draft, the Packers not only improved, but they now have some training camp battles to look out for. Here are five.

It was a bit of an odd pick, but the Packers drafted Brett Hundley in the fifth round of the draft. Considering Aaron Rodgers is only 31 years old, I'm not betting that Hundley is his successor, but I do believe that the Packers saw enough ability and potential in him to be their backup quarterback for the next few seasons. However, to get that job, he will need to beat out Scott Tolzien.

While John Kuhn is a fan favorite in Green Bay, the reality is that the Packers can only keep one fullback on their roster mainly because of the devalued fullback position. Aaron Ripkowski is a similar player to Kuhn. He's decently versatile and he'd be an excellent lead-blocker for Eddie Lacy. While the position may not be as important as it once was, this could be an intriguing training camp battle.

3. No. 3 Cornerback

The Packers added Quinten Rollins in the second round of the draft. Out of Miami (OH), Rollins showed a lot of ability last season. However, he played the cornerback position at the collegiate level for just one season and although he dominated the Mid-American Conference, there may be some concerns over his rawness. He'll compete with Demetri Goodson for the No. 3 cornerback position.

Even though Clay Matthews shined at the middle linebacker position towards the end of the year, smart logic tells us that he'll move back to the defensive end position for the 2015 season. Knowing that, as well as A.J. Hawk's departure from the team, the Packers need a starting inside linebacker. Fourth-round pick Jake Ryan will compete with Sam Barrington for the position.

Sam Shields is set in stone as the team's primary cornerback. With Shields manning the No. 1 cornerback position, and Demetri Goodson and Quinten Rollins competing for the No. 3 cornerback position, the Packers also added Damarious Randall in the first round of the draft. While Randall played safety in college, he'll compete with Casey Hayward for the cornerback position across from Shields.
