It did not take long for former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez to make headlines since arriving at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts. Hernandez, who is serving a life sentence after being convicted of the murder of Odin Lloyd, was involved in a prison fight. Despite this being the first time it happened at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center, his participation in such incidents could quickly become a reoccurring theme.

Hernandez served as the lookout, while another inmate entered a different prisoner’s cell. The action resulted in two inmates fighting in what is being reported as a gang-related conflict. There is no news regarding whether Hernandez was physically involved in the altercation, but he will be disciplined for participating in the violation.

Being a high-profile prisoner, Hernandez will find himself consistently involved in the misconduct of other inmates. One can only assume that he wants to fit in any way he can, which means he may occasionally break the rules. It also means that taking part in prison fights could happen from time-to-time.

In my opinion, Hernandez is the cool kid on the block because he played for the Patriots in the NFL. He also has his face plastered all over the media. Most prisoners may see this as a reason to be friends with him, while others may not be too enthused with his popularity. Regardless, it means he will constantly be the center of attention. For that reason, reports about his prison involvements can be expected to spread throughout the media over the next year.

The prison fight is the second major altercation for Hernandez since being placed behind bars. In February 2014, Hernandez knocked down an inmate while being transported from the infirmary to the Bristol County House of Correction in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
