The San Francisco 49ers are holding their annual OTAs this month and several members of the 49ers must rise to the occasion to climb the depth charts. Here are five players who need to step up during the 49ers 2015 OTAs.

5. Chris Cook

Defensive back Chris Cook has an unique opportunity this offseason. Since Chris Culliver and Perrish Cox left in free agency, the starting cornerback position is wide open this season. The 28-year-old Cook racked up only six tackles last year and zero interceptions. The former Minnesota Viking must step it up this offseason just for a chance at starting this Fall.

The pressure is on outside linebacker Corey Lemonier after his poor performance last season and since third-round draft pick Eli Harold has joined the squad. Lemonier's spot on the roster is secure going into the season, but if he wants to see the field he will need to impress this offseason.

3. Vance McDonald

The heat is on for the incumbent tight end Vance McDonald. Poor play from McDonald and Vernon Davis last year has forced San Francisco to take TE's Blake Bell and Busta Anderson in this last draft. With the added competition, McDonald may be on the chopping block in 2016 if he does not drastically improve his game this offseason.

2. Quinton Patton

Wide receiver Quinton Patton is entering his third season with the 49ers, and so far the former Louisiana Tech standout has seen little action on the field. To be fair, Patton has been dealing with a host of injuries for most of that time. Sitting right behind Bruce Ellington on the depth charts, Patton must prove to San Francisco's coaching staff he can stay healthy and productive in 2015.

Colin Kaepernick's performance suffered a slight dip last season. Completing only 60.5% of his passes and a QBR of 86.4, many believed the 28-year-old quarterback would be first on the trade block this year. However, the 49ers are giving Kap another chance to prove himself capable of taking this team to the next level. Hopefully, Kap's offseason training with former MVP Kurt Warner will pay off for the young QB this year.
