5 Most Overrated Players In Texans History

In 2013, NFL.com created a series that counted down the five most overrated and underrated players in each franchise's history. Here are my rankings for the most overrated players for the Houston Texans.

5. Connor Barwin

Barwin makes this list for what he did after he left Houston rather than what he didn't do in Houston. In four years with the Texans, Barwin had 19.0 sacks, including a high of 11.5 in 2011. In the past two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Barwin has 19.5 sacks and made his first Pro Bowl in 2014 after recording 14.5 sacks.

4. Jacoby Jones

Jones is best remembered for his magical 2012 postseason with the Baltimore Ravens, but he was a big disappointment for the Texans. He never became a true No. 2 receiver for the Texans and was very inconsistent. In five seasons, Jones had only one season with more than 50 receptions, zero seasons with over 600 receiving yards and one season with more than five touchdown receptions.

3. Dunta Robinson

Robinson wasn't bad for the Texans, but as a top 10 pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, he didn't perform like one of the best corners. In six seasons, Robinson didn't make a single Pro Bowl appearance, had more than three interceptions in a season once and the Texans reached the postseason once he left town.

2. Mario Williams

Like Robinson, the Texans got better when Williams left, but that doesn't mean he was a terrible player. As the No. 1 overall pick in 2006, Williams was the correct choice over the likes of Reggie Bush and Vince Young. In six seasons with the Texans, Williams had two double-digit sack seasons and made two Pro Bowls. In three seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Williams has three double-digit sack seasons and made two Pro Bowls.

Schaub was a great fantasy quarterback while with the Texans, but he couldn't get the job done in the postseason. Schaub did get the Texans to the postseason twice, but they won in 2011 with T.J. Yates under center. In 2012, Schaub defeated the Cincinnati Bengals, but he only threw for 262 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception, which turned into a pick-six, in a 19-13 win.
