The Washington Redskins are coming off two straight dismal seasons, but 2015 looks to be a fresh start with a new general manager in place.

Here are five Redskins that need to do well during this week's OTAs.

Pro Football Focus ranked Amerson dead-last among 108 qualifying cornerbacks last season, as he allowed 10 touchdown passes and opposing quarterbacks had a 140.2 passer rating against him. The addition of Chris Culliver in free agency means Amerson is unlikely to start 15 games this year, as he did in 2014, but he needs to show the Redskins why they made him a second-round pick in 2013.

Thompson has only played six games in two seasons, due in part to injuries. There's already been a lot of positive buzz surrounding rookie running back Matt Jones, so Thompson needs to do well in OTAs as he starts a potential battle for one spot on the 53-man roster with Silas Redd.

Fourth-round pick Jamison Crowder is an immediate threat to Roberts' role as Washington's No. 3 wide receiver and primary kickoff returner. He needs to stand out, or at least outperform Crowder, starting in OTAs.

2. TE Jordan Reed

Injuries have been a theme during Reed's first two seasons, and he is already dealing with a knee issue as OTAs get going. Niles Paul looked capable last season, with 39 receptions for 507 yards, so Reed needs to get back on the field quickly this week to secure his status as Washington's No. 1 tight end.

2015 is a make-or-break season for Griffin, and he has at best a shaky hold on the starting job right now. He can take a big step toward a rebound season, and show he has what it takes to be a team leader outside of offering cheesy slogans, with a strong performance during OTAs.
