San Francisco 49ers inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman engaged in his first practice this week since injuring his ACL in 2013. The 27-year-old linebacker will be easing back onto the practice field during the team’s annual OTAs this offseason.

The First Team All-Pro linebacker tore his ACL in the 2013 NFC Championship against the Seattle Seahawks. Forced to sit out all of 2014, Bowman was sorely missed during the 49ers’ mediocre 8-8 regular season. Now that the inside linebacker is fully healed and feeling a 100 percent, he is finally cleared to rejoin his fellow teammates.

Bowman took part in all three practices this week but was required to wear a left knee brace all throughout. Despite the brace, Bowman is beginning to show more confidence in his knee which was evident during Friday’s practice. Recovery has not been without its pitfalls for the 49ers linebacker. “It hasn’t been consistent,” Bowman said. “I go out there some days and I feel great and some days I have to fight through it.”

Friday however, was a good day for Bowman. During the 11-on-11 drill, Bowman was seen leading the defensive huddle and was a full participant in team exercises. The highlight of day’s practice came when Bowman picked off quarterback Colin Kaepernick on an all-too-familiar right corner fade pass into the end zone.
