Green Bay Packers’ Listed Over-Under Win Total Could Be First Indication of 2015 Success

Prior to the start of NFL training camp, online sportsbook Brovada lists the over-under win totals for each team. The Green Bay Packers’ over-under win total of 11 is the highest in the league for 2015, which could be the first indication that the team will be successful in the upcoming season.

It should be noted that the over-under win total’s purpose is not to be an indicator for the potential of a team’s success in a given season. With that said, Brovada listed the Packers’ over-under win total at 10.5 wins last season, and Green Bay finished 2014 with a 12-4 record and a few embarrassing plays away from a Super Bowl berth. The point is Brovada does not exactly want to be used as a predictor for wins, but it certainly can be based on past results.

The Packers hardly lost anyone of significant value in free agency, with possibly the exception of cornerbacks Tramon Williams and Davon House, which means Green Bay will be returning their core players from last year’s squad. The Packers also added some quality talent through the NFL Draft. The combination of the core team returning with quality rookies sprinkled in proves Green Bay is destined for greatness in 2015.

The biggest reason for optimism is the Packers’ top-ranked offense from a season ago should be even more potent going forward. Multiple playmakers mixed with a new offensive scheme will allow MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers to succeed at an even higher level than he has before. Placing Rodgers in the shotgun and pistol formations for more than 50 percent of the offensive snaps will theoretically make Green Bay unstoppable in the upcoming season.

The quest for success starts July 29 when the players report for training camp.
