New-Look Buffalo Bills Will Benefit From Record Fan Support

Rex Ryan Buffalo Bills Ticket Sales

Kevin Hoffman – USA TODAY Sports

Well, it’s official. The Buffalo Bills have broken their franchise record for season ticket sales. The number of sales is currently north of 57,500 tickets, and the team will likely cap the total number of season tickets at 60,000. This support from the fans will be huge for the new-look Bills, and it shows the faith that the fans have in new head coach Rex Ryan.

Ryan has come in to Buffalo and created a team that is not only projected to be successful, but is marketable as well. Despite not having a definitive starting quarterback, Ryan has brought in several flashy, big-name players like LeSean McCoy and Percy Harvin to get fans excited about the offense. These moves have allowed him to focus on the defensive side of the ball as he looks to improve what was already a stellar defense last season. The most important part of these changes and improvements is that the fans are backing Ryan immediately. New head coaches don’t always have the support that Ryan has gotten.

So what is the impact of the support of the fans? It’s that Ryan will be able to take time to find a quarterback. The team doesn’t really have one this season, but Ryan will be able to wait it out, because the team is still marketable and his presence has increased ticket sales. That means that there will be optimism around Ryan’s head coaching tenure for at least a few seasons, and that should buy him enough time to find a quarterback who will be successful in his scheme.

Finding a quarterback is essentially the only pressure on Ryan right now, because the Bills are good enough to be a playoff team this season. Ryan is just in a great situation overall, and the support from the fans will only make it better.
