Now I’m not an NFL player, but I’m pretty sure if someone offered me $13 million for one year’s worth of my time, I’d be more than happy with that. And I wouldn’t complain about that not being enough to secure my future from a financial standpoint. Then again, I’m not an NFL player.

I am a human being who makes way less than $13 million in a year, though, so it makes little sense to me for someone like Dez Bryant to complain about that figure not providing security for his future.

Bryant and the Dallas Cowboys are in the middle of a heated contract dispute, as the star wide receiver must be signed to a long-term deal before July 15 or he’ll be locked into the $13 million his franchise tag would pay him in 2015. Bryant decided to post his feelings about the situation on Twitter:

I don’t know about you, but $13 million isn’t “cool.” It’s a crapload of money that certainly exceeds the “cool” category.

So when Bryant goes on Twitter complaining about that figure to his 848,000+ followers (most of who probably also don’t make $13 million per year), it seems like his message is falling upon deaf ears. I understand you’re a professional football player and you deserve to be paid like one, but don’t expect sympathy from people who might not make $13 million throughout their entire lives.

Call me bitter or jealous if you’d like, but I’m just providing perspective.
